Residents of Manthani did yeoman service to devotees thronging to the place, for them to have a dip in Godavari River during Pushkarams. Several representatives of various organisations took part in service activities during the event and drew appreciation from all quarters for their selfless services.
Mahavadi Vijaya, who runs a school for mentally challenged and a pen for cows in the village, said that she transported over 2,500 in her son’s van from the parking place to Pushkaram ghats, for free in the past 12 days.
The 50-year-old woman transported at least 200 per day in the van. More importantly, volunteers who helped in transporting physically challenged and the aged on tricycles also helped them with their temple visits and darshans.
